Treasure the Sources
June 2-4, 2008
Spearfish, South Dakota

The South Dakota Council for the Social Studies is hosting the 2008 Social Studies Conference at the Spearfish Holiday Inn. The conference theme is Treasure the Sources focusing on source documents for teaching the social studies.   Included in the conference:

Conference registration will begin at 7:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 3 in the convention center at the Spearfish Holiday Inn. A breakfast buffet will begin at 7:30.

University course registration information will be distributed at the workshop locations by the workshop coordinators.

All workshops and tours begin at 1:00 P.M on Monday, June 2.

Hands On History - The South Dakota Historical Society
This workshop will meet at the Spearfish Holiday Inn and Convention Center

Crazy Horse Tour
At 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 2 participants may meet in the Spearfish Holiday Inn lobby to car pool.

OR

Participants may drive directly to Crazy Horse Memorial. When arriving at the Memorial ask for Donovin Sprague at the Education Center. Participants will gather at the Education Center to begin the tour.

Walking tour of Lead/Deadwood
At 1:00 A.M. Monday, June 2 participants may meet in the Spearfish Holiday Inn lobby to car pool.

OR

Participants may drive directly to Lead. The tour will begin at the Lead Visitor's Center at the Open Cut Gold Mine in Lead.

If you are seeking Graduate Credit you are required to attend one of the half-day workshops.
